Description

Take Mine Echo Graph, Video Still, 2024 Ana María Caballero This digital artwork is a still from Echo Graph, a choreographic video poem that returns to the emergency birth of Ana María Caballero’s first child. The micro-poetic film originates from a poem from Caballero’s book MAMMAL, written after an incorrect diagnosis led to an emergency C-section. Twelve years later, Caballero revisited that medical encounter, rewriting her story using the visual language of an ultrasound, recorded via motion-capture technology. The work reclaims trauma through its transformation into art. By publishing the poem through her own body, Caballero becomes an artist, writer, patient who has seized control. Echo Graph is part of Caballero’s ongoing efforts to take poetry beyond the page, allowing language to expand through video, installation, computational systems, sculpture, and choreography. anamariacaballero.com
