and I saw through time

Collection

non-quantum superpositions of human/machine emotional states by Marcelo Soria-Rodríguez

Description

The series is an exploration of replacing our ways to see the world with other ways of seeing derived from AI models trained on my hand-coded generative systems. There is an overarching theme in most of my work, hand coded or using AI, that looks for the things we take for granted as human-defining or human-exclusive attributes (intelligence, emotional refinement, empathy, etc.), and examines how artificial systems can mimic or newly express some of those characteristics in ways that feel "really human." As artificial intelligence starts to develop their own ability to feel (whatever that may mean for them), will their relationships be mediated by emotions, like they are amongst humans? Or are emotions ours alone, biological and learned? — 2025
