I stared at the video of Ryuichi Sakamoto playing the piano, wondering what would happen if he escaped from the music for a second, and didn't put his hands back on the piano. Would the world come to a halt? Then he disappeared into another dimension. Thinking about this, my eyes welled up with tears. My skin felt dry, so I picked up my fragrant hand cream. But I couldn't smell anything. I realized that I hadn't been able to smell for a while. To confirm this, I lit a cigarette and realized for the first time what it meant to smoke without smelling the smoke. I felt like the world was collapsing, and I was a hidden disabled person. I was restless the whole day, and then I didn't sleep all night. I baked focaccia bread in the oven, and I remembered how excited I was when I bought it, looking forward to dipping it in salsa and savoring the fragrant aroma. But now I couldn't smell it. I put it in my mouth and tasted only salt, tomatoes, and the texture of the bread. There was no sense of happiness from the imagined fragrance. I drank yogurt and the fruity flavor was gone.
