Capital of Siberia

Description

In less than 100 years, Novosibirsk has grown from a small village into a city with a population of one and a half million. Its development was closely connected with the construction of bridges, each of which is unique in its design. The Communal (Oktyabrsky) bridge, the construction of which was estimated at 128 million rubles, was opened in November 1955. In the early 20s of the last century, time in our city was calculated according to two time zones. On the right bank, the morning began an hour earlier. Thus, when the inhabitants of the left bank were still sleeping, life was already in full swing in the center. The thing is that the hourly meridian in Novosibirsk passed right along the Ob River, or rather, under the Communal Bridge.
