Description

For my submission I decided to go all the way back to my hometown. My work is known for pastel colors and my love for pastel skies came from growing up on the Florida coast. Every night the sky is painted with the biggest fluffiest clouds that turn every shade of beautiful as the sun sets. In the summer time, we have lightning storms every night. I used to lay on the hood on my car on the tops of parking garages at night and watch as heat lightning lit up the sky. For this image, I went to the end of the local pier and put my iPhone 11 in slo-mo video mode hoping to catch a lightning strike. In the distance, the afternoon storm rolled off into the Gulf of Mexico gracing the sunset with electric magic--a perfect combination of the inspiration behind picking up my camera and the many nights I spent staring at the sky.
