#20 "The ghost mountains" Volcanic cones and a far mountain range in Kamchatka,in the Tolbachik volcano area, during the afternoon, when the light of the sun was already a little bit warm enough to make more evident the strong color of the volcanic cone in the foreground. A characteristic of that period in Kamchatka was the mist created by the temperature variation between the forests and the volcanic valleys with huge volcanoes. That’s why only the residuals of snow were the only parts visible in the haze and the mountains looked like suspended, indeed ghosts. I visited the abyss of Earth in the Kamchatka peninsula in 2019. This collection includes volcanic landscapes of the territory in Far East Russia, seen from above, or closer, sometimes in contrast with the green nature of our Planet. In Kamchatka there is a continuous contrast with life and death, destruction. When I ventured in those pristine landscapes, together with two local guides, I lived an adventure in contact with nature, hundreds of miles from mankind, without internet or data connection. A journey which will live forever in my heart, especially for the sense of freedom I felt in front of those sceneries. This project was awarded as overall winner in MIFA awards 2020 and some of these collectible photos won several awards around the World, like International Landscape Photographer of the Year.
