Description

Rumors were swirling that Kurt was too junk sick to make the show and the band was splitting up. Kurt decided to play up the press rumors and come out in a hospital smock, being pushed by the UK music journalist Everett True. It was incredibly dark backstage before the show - I had to do a double take and a “wah?” when I first saw Kurt as he’d looked perfectly fine earlier in the day. He would be wheeled on, fake collapse at the mic, pick himself up and then go on to play one of the hallmark rock and roll shows of all time. Charles Peterson
