Description

This work is a pixel drawing of the Torso series. Torso is a series that is the beginning and fundamental of my work. The texture of the original made with oil painting is digitized and changes to the texture of the surface of each pixel. Pixels are too low in resolution not to be limited by their resolution. Also, unlike pointillism, where the borders and colors become blurry as it gets farther away, the pixel drawing method reveals the tragedy of chaos as the viewer approaches, and an orderly shape as the viewer moves away from the picture. The longer you look at it, the more joy you have to read the representations and meanings in depth. For Yunsung Lee, pixels symbolize the basic digital environment, concept and imperfection of practice in reality for contemporary artists and designers. Yunsung Lee (b.1985) Yunsung Lee is interested in the expressions of old narrative and modern visual culture. He uses images produced by famous narratives-Western myths-as motifs, and expression methods derived from subculture images called Manga or Moe. He utilizes this methodology not only for the subject and form of the painting but also for the shape, size, and combination method of the frame, as well as color and drawing techniques.
