Description

I admire this mustang mare's defense of her boundaries in no uncertain terms: pinned ears, flicking tail and vibrating energy as another member of her band got too close for her comfort in that moment. She embodies agency, self-respect, clear communication; all traits I want to own myself and want to see for those I love. I hope she can be a symbol of this for you, too. Kat Livengood is a fine art photographer based in the high desert of Santa Fe, NM. She has spent over a decade–and traveled many thousands of miles–photographing the wild horses, wildlife and wild lands of the American west, and raising awareness about the struggle to keep wild horses free on public lands. 10/10 Edition NFT 2011, Northern New Mexico 5761 x 4800 px / 300 dpi
