A Human in Times of Chaos

Description

Invisible Strings 7 (5/13/2021, R code). This piece is part of twenty selected generative artworks released as unique iterations (numbered 1-10), in a limited collection by Kenny Vaden: “A Human in Times of Chaos.” First, a hidden layer of random points was drawn throughout the plot space. Next, a series of concentric circles was drawn centered around those points. Each disc contained a circular off center hole, which formed the boundaries of the smaller circle inset. Circles were colored with a jittered red orange color gradient; the randomization range depended on vertical location. Next a series of thirty random square polygons was added, which flowed downward at a constant rate, with each corner pulled toward the nearest hidden coordinate. This produces a distortion wave as the squares pile downward. A jittered color gradient fill was used that depends on the square number in each series of 450 squares. When the polygons reached the bottom of the plot, the edges weren't allowed to continue downward, creating a crush at the base of the pillars. The image dimensions for this file are 13.33x20 inches and 300 DPI, which produced a file size below the 40 MB limit but provides a higher resolution (more detail) than the original version shown online.
