#11 - ROLLING NO MORE Very little exploited by photographers, the Isle of Arran is an absolute favorite of mine and of my wife’s as well, and we love to go back whenever we can. The Fossil Sands, with their incredible shapes dotted by glacial erratic boulders who stopped their journey there, are one of the most inspiring areas for seascapes I have ever worked on. It takes a lot of planning to get there with the right tide at the best time of the day for beautiful light, and it takes very good balance to keep on your feet when walking on the slippery, wet sandstone; however, if you can manage both, you are rewarded with some powerful imagery. I always have been amazed by the magical way the ocean lives and breathes, by its powers and endless energy. The ocean feels to me like a living creature, benevolent and terrible at the same time, constantly at work shaping the landscape. The ocean comes with many voices, visually. The long waves and roaring waters offer an infinite range of expressive possibilities to interpret the ocean’s landscapes through a careful use of the visual representation of time. Working around the ocean, for me, is a never-ending source of inspiration: this collection represents 7 years of photography, listening to the Voices of The Ocean.
