train movement
Due to the sweltering heat I felt during my stay in Kolkata, I wore only sleeveless sleeves and short pants. However, it was also a difficult train ticket, and when I was sick, I decided to go ahead with the idea of getting a good night's sleep while traveling for a long time. It took about 23 hours by train from Kolkata to Delhi, and using the SL class was the beginning of hardship.
Indians who usually ride in a lower class cabin than 3A often ride without purchasing a formal train ticket, and it is standard to sit down if there is a space in someone else's seat. If that happens, the uncomfortable situation where 12 people can sit on the assigned seat for 6 people occurs frequently, and it can also be the cause of backpack theft accidents. As the train stopped at a small station, a group of people dressed in orange quickly got on the train. The anxious feeling soon came to reality. Two bearded Indian men came and sat down naturally, beckoning me to move to the side as if the seat on which I was lying with my legs stretched out was theirs.
“Show me your train ticket. Or jjallo! (which means ‘turn off’ in Korean.)”
Ordinary Indian men would have said so if they had sat down, but it was their cleverness that gave them a seat. Behind the men, a total of 14 more people coveted my seat. In addition, there were even babies and women who wanted to receive a blood transfusion for my place with pathetic eyes. The cold got worse and worse, and a runny nose kept running, but I couldn't help it. As a human being, I couldn't push this large family away.
The SL class is a train ticket that travels for 20 hours and costs less than 10,000 won in Korean money. In the end, there was an unprecedented situation in which 18 people sat in a 6-seater seat.
When I tried to go to sleep because I was drunk with cold medicine, I was woken up again by the cries of crying babies, and at dawn I couldn't sleep because of the snoring of Indian men.
When I woke up in the morning, my backpack was scorched with the powder of Indians. I thought that India was the place where anger was not held in me, but honestly erupted. But when I see babies with angelic eyes, I think I came to India, a place where all anger disappears. Fortunately, as the anger went away, my cold aura completely disappeared.
Again, Delhi
A lot of people are pouring out of the train that has been traveling for 23 hours from Kolkata, the East Indies, to the capital, Delhi. I was a little awake, but the sobering heat brought back a sense of reality, 'This is New Delhi Station.'
In Paharganj, a tourist district in Delhi, unlike when I visited a few years ago, the cows who roared like street kings disappeared and the streets were paved with asphalt to signal the transformation of Delhi. It is the evolution of the family. However, the reason why many people have no choice but to pick Delhi as the worst city is because of rickshaws who persistently pursue travelers and merchants who try to sell unnecessary goods. The guesthouse I stayed in during my long-term stay was almost on the verge of collapse. But the yak sandwich is delicious
The restaurant I used to visit and the bar I frequented were the same. Delhi, which is trying to take on a crowded street and urban sophistication, looks like an unfinished picture.
Revisiting a place you've been to before is a great opportunity to see what has changed and what hasn't.
