#31 mcleod ganz 2480x3508px I came to McLeod Ganj, nicknamed 'Little Tibet in India' and also the starting point for most travelers to North India. It was completely different from what I had experienced while traveling in India, and instead of the loud horns and solicitors, there was only quiet peace. Most of the people who live in McGan are Tibetans, and there were many images that overlap with Darjeeling, the last travel destination two years ago, in that villages are formed in the mountains. The Dalai Lama's residence and the Tibetan government, who fled China, is here, so outside are all Tibetan monks. They looked a little bit like Chinese and Koreans, but they always had a smile on them. It was amazing to see the monks in red that I had only seen on documentary channels in real life in front of my eyes. It is heartbreaking to learn why Tibetans, not Indians, are living in McLeod Ganj, in the heart of the Indian subcontinent. The Dalai Lama, who led the Tibetans living during the Chinese invasion, eventually crossed the Himalayas and established the Tibetan government in exile here and protected them. It is said that many people come here to see the Dalai Lama. But when I visited, I was told that the Dalai Lama was not in McGann.
