Eventually all love stories end When I eventually turn to dust, I hope it’s as desolate, warm, and evanescent Most Importantly I hope to have those final moments with you I watched my grandmother’s final moments on facetime. I was visiting Japan for my honeymoon. I connected to the free Wi-Fi for direction help. We were lost at the time. Immediately I got a picture of my grandmother dying in the middle of rush hour Tokyo subway traffic. A message appeared underneath it that stated, “Come home before she passes, she doesn’t have much time left.” My heart dropped. “Fuck” I said out loud. There was no way I could make it back in time before that happened. I didn’t make it back, but I realized how lucky she was in the end. She was able to have her soul mate of 50 years guide her out. One last adventure together. A hurrah if you will. She wasn’t alone. He helped her to the finish line. The green tree represents my grandfather. The white dead tree represents my grandmother. The environment is warm, welcoming, while being paired with a painterly sky to welcome this momentous event. A warm ending to a 50-year-old love story. Love is beautiful. Dedicated to the moment my grandmother passed in my grandfather’s arms. I miss you so much. On a side note. The song I chose to edit this photograph to was the last song she and I listened to with each other. She loves your voice, Florence Welch! Chromesthesia or sound-to-color synesthesia is a type of synesthesia in which sound involuntarily evokes an experience of color, shape, and movement. I see colors when I hear certain music, or sounds. I use this ability in my photography by altering certain colors to match what I see from listening to music.
