The vibrant, colorful life of this river system is made possible by the slow death of its ancient, frozen predecessor. As a glacier melts & chips away, it releases a chalky sediment referred to as "flour", which eventually settles on the shallow riverbed. This is what gives the water its vibrant blue color, especially when illuminated by sunlight. And the fine soil that was pulverized by the glacier eons ago is what allows the streams to spread & flow like veins, eventually reuniting into oneness. The overall effect transforms the entire landscape into a work of living abstract art.
