Kaikoura Mountain Range, Kaikoura, New Zealand This shot was taken from a doors off helicopter over the mountains in Kaikoura, South Island, during sunrise. Freezing doesn't even begin to explain the cold I felt on this day! But ... who cares about the cold when the view is this incredible. The special thing about this image is that I took my then 9 year old daughter with me on this flight. She was so brave, braver than me! I was able to show her what I do for a job, she saw these stunning mountains and the sun rise from the ocean in the distance. Later we saw sperm whales from above which was the first time for her seeing a whale. There are so many good memories attached to this image, and I am so glad to be a photographer at times like these to capture such beauty and the memories.
