The fantastic Okshornan mountain range (Senja, Norway) has a special surname that is used by locals. They call these mountains the “devil’s jaw.” After I started shooting on the day when I shot this image, I noticed how the weather was getting quite wild. I wanted to portray these epic peaks with an icy and dynamic foreground. And ideally have something exciting happening in the sky as well. An hour or so later, the swell of the sea was getting wilder and wilder. I had found a good spot and was hoping for a wave to hit just at the right speed to allow me to capture the wave motion with a swirl in the foreground. It took a long time of constantly wiping off water from the lens, running away with the camera because waves were coming way higher than anticipated. And I didn't want to lose my equipment just before the party started… But eventually the elements aligned and I managed to capture the swirling foreground at the same time as a new snow storm started drifting into the background of the scene. It felt like I was dancing with the devil. A moment of joy was had!
