The Voyager Golden Disc has fascinated me for a long time - it’s not exactly science, is it? It’s conceptual art: a golden vinyl on a record player, drifting through space. Bleeding bonkers! Imagine it up there right now, journeying across the universe, the rarest record in the universe … Perhaps imagining this place brings it into existence somehow, touching the edge of the universe in the only way we can together - in the vessel of an idea - travelling at the speed of thought. NOTES ON BUILD The gif exploits compression artefacts to create the lagging, ghosting cursor glitches. All the distances expressed are correct to known scientific thinking and translated from light years into miles.
