Description

Months alone in lockdown, loss of job and dealing with the PTSD from a previous abusive relationship I through myself into my art. My world was blackened with depression, suicidal ideation and grief.. I needed colour, I needed to smile, I needed a challenging project to give myself some sense of worth. Then one rainy day in iso sketching a nude form with black pencil I added a smiley head and coloured in the background pink, I filled an entire sketchbook with these characters using blue pink and yellow for the backgrounds. From there I began to manically paint, developing the concept further, painting objects and pop culture references.. In iso I produced over 50 paintings during my 108 days alone, the madness, loneliness and pain I felt in that time was a price I paid to be the artist I am today.
