For most of my life, I thought that hobbies were the most frivolous of pursuits. People get hyper-fixated on something, and they spend vast amounts of time and energy (and yes, sometimes money) to pursue that thing, often to the point of obsession that blazes like an inferno. Surely I would never fall prey to such an inane and pointless thing? Fast-forward to the mid-2010s, when I discovered astrophotography, and thoroughly embraced the idea of heading out into the night, alone, for hours upon hours, with my meticulously gathered camera gear and my trusty flashlight.
