Always Has Been: Chapter 1

Description

In 1986, Christmas Seals celebrated their 80th anniversary in the U.S. These fundraising stamps, crucial to the Lung Association's efforts against tuberculosis and other lung diseases, trace back to a 1907 initiative by Jacob Riis in New York, inspired by Denmark's success. By distributing stamps with holiday mail, a national movement was born, raising significant funds and awareness. The campaign reshaped public health fundraising, underscoring the impact of collaborative grassroots efforts.
