Description

Amidst the forest and deep within the hills outside Elle’s home, the sun began to set. Purple, pink, orange, and red hues filled the sky against the altocumulus and cirrus clouds scattering the horizon. Elle was beginning to grow accustomed to the absence of the sun in the evenings, but tonight she felt something new come over her as the sun fled the sky. Rare occurrences Elle had with nature were becoming less rare, but there isn’t a good way to explain to friends and family that you can talk with nature. She ached to share stories of raindrops telling her secrets as they fell through the air, rays of sunshine glinting over hidden treasures she now discovered throughout her day. Despite these wonders, the clouds continued to captivate Elle’s attention. Elle now saw the clouds for what they really were, the givers of knowledge in a new world she was beginning to discover. Her nights had become occupied with walks, whispering to clouds and asking them to share their secrets with her. Tonight the clouds formed images of landmarks that brought her atop Haddawalkhere Hill, overlooking the town. Taking a moment to reflect, she imagined that this must be how the clouds feel looking down on her. In her moment of reflection the wind rustled through the trees and began circling Elle, greeting her with a hug reminiscent of a long lost friend not seen for ages. Holding her breath and tilting her head to the sky, Elle knew something was coming. She could hear the raindrop before she felt it. When it made contact with her skin a vision flashed before her like a lighting strike. Glasses and a glint of metal was all she could make out. Another raindrop fell, another vision. Elle’s heart began beating faster, sweat and rain against her skin and nature testing her resolve. She saw the clouds ready to release everything they needed her to know, everything they wanted to give her. Feeling a power unlike any other surge through her, visions crashed against her mind relentlessly. Struggling to catch her breath she fell to the ground, thunder echoing through the evening air as everything went black.
