Unreal and yet real. For our eyes, this scene on the square in front of the Louvre in Paris is unusual and almost uncanny. Yet it is real and unadulterated. The bright blue sky above the gloomy palace buildings contrasts sharply with the mysterious gathering of people, most of whom appear to be dressed in red. Thanks to the infrared technology used for the shot, the people on the forecourt of the Louvre in Paris look like the armed staff of the deadly games in the Netflix series Squid Game. Only a few people are not wearing the typical red overalls. But even most of them are already wearing partial red clothing. Are those who have to play for their lives already significantly outnumbered? Has life-despising violence already permeated our society to such an extent that it is already so obvious even in the cultural centre of Paris? Paris Squid Game is a surrealistic-looking picture that deliberately stimulates reflection on the values in our time. In which role does each individual see themselves? Which side are you on? The line of the cubes, which seems to be taken from a computer game, up to the glass pyramid, the seemingly random arrangement of the persons like game pieces on a large playing field as well as the gaudy and unusual colours make this work of art a very special milestone in the artistic development of André Wagner. The only thing that seems familiar and almost clichéd is the endless sky with its white clouds. Are we already in the middle of the Squid Game?
