Description

MazeFlipper by Beer van Geer bridges ancient Shipibo artistry with generative algorithms, creating geometric patterns that echo across scales—from microscopic circuits to cosmic structures. Inspired by Kene patterns, traditional Shipibo embroidery that intuitively follows mathematical principles of symmetry and tessellation, this work reveals how indigenous wisdom naturally incorporated concepts now central to computational art. The project connects Western maze symbolism with Shipibo cosmic snake motifs, inviting contemplation of universal organizational principles that transcend cultures and time. 100% of proceeds from this collection directly support Nouvelle Planète's work with Shipibo women in the Peruvian Amazon, preserving ancestral knowledge and creating economic opportunities. Collectors can order physical versions of their digital artwork as handcrafted embroideries by Shipibo artisans through the SuperGood website, creating a meaningful cycle that honors indigenous traditions while exploring the digital frontier.
