Deciphering the Maze of Symbolic Meaning - Explorations in Asemic Writing III Tezos NFT Art ============================ - I am intrigued by the intersection of the found object and the deliberate expression of a line through mark-making. - Utilising a random shape I discover on my daily travels, I allow myself to be guided by the marks it makes when I dip it into black India ink and let the edges " dance" on the canvas or sketchbook page as it were. - I particularly favour the discarded remnant of an object, long unrecognisable due to having encountered a multitude of external interventions, from collisions to weathering influences, the less I can determine its origin the more it appeals to me. - The arising ink marks provide an analog starting point that I develop further. Using a variety of digital tools I play until I arrive at a harmonious composition that retains distinct elements of its origin but also allows the story that wants to be told to emerge organically. - This often leads me to lines that seem to hold a deeper meaning, a kind of cypher or symbolic clue that hints at things to be discovered if its meaning could be understood. It invites both me as the artist and some of you as the viewer to look closer, deeper and perhaps a little longer until it begins to resonate. - When a piece stops asking me to go further there is a certain sense of completion that is hard to describe. The trick for me is to listen and not override that sensation, allowing the artwork to remain enticingly open-ended to interpretation . Therefore the viewer can enter the story, engage with it in any which way it takes them in their own mind.
