Description

Sony Bravia with Sand Mound (After Fontana) is a grouping of 3D scans produced by the artist using found materials and objects. A working television screen from the trash near the artist’s studio floats above a pile of PCB e-waste mixed with sand and volcanic gravel collected from deserts in the American southwest. Large virtual cuts have been made in the surface of the 3D model of the screen which directly references Lucio Fontana’s Concetto Spaziale, Attese, making the screen a contemporary corollary for the traditional canvas. Created for /Spatial, an Objkt.one group show curated by Bay Backner and Damir First. Commissioned by Kika Nicolela. This AR preview of the scene was recorded in the artist's studio on the occasion of the exhibition launch.
