Description
The Fungus Among Us is a digital risograph trading card collection, consisting of 22 different mushrooms divided into three categories: the good, the bad and the trippy.
I've always been fascinated by mushrooms and their relationship with humans and life in general. From the harmless edibles to the deadly beautiful species and the special mushrooms filled with knowledge to share, fungi have been turning death into life dating way back over a billion years. Their intelligence isn't only shared wwith humans and other animals, but amongst themselves being capable of long distance communication and other characteristics which make them that much intriguing.
In the end, this collection is just a way I found to externalize my fascination in the best way I know how, and I hope I can share a bit of this with you.
Species: Psilocybe Semilanceata (Liberty Caps)
Type: Trippy
Location: The Psilocybe semilanceata is the world's most widespread psilocybin mushroom species, being found in Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Channel Islands, Czech republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, Frances, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK, Ukraine and Pakistan, as well as in North America and in Canada. Liberty Caps fruit solitarily or in groups on rich acidic soil, typically in grasslands such as meadows, pastures or lawns.
Trivia: The first reliably documented report of Liberty Cap intoxication involved a British family in 1799, who prepared a meal with mushrooms they had picked in London's Green Park. According to reports, the father and his four children experienced typical symptoms associated with ingestion, including pupil dilation, spontaneous laughter and delirium.
It is also very commong for people to mistake the P. semilanceata with the poisonous Cortinarius rubellus, which has resulted in cases of severe intoxication.
All images in this collection are highly texture 3000x3000px PNGs, created using only three colors (Cyan, Magenta and Yellow), with tonal variations and other colors coming from halftones and color overlay in order to maintain the stipulated color limtiations.
