Description

This time I will take you to the state of Tierra del Argentina, where the natives all died in a strange way in 1520. The state of Tierra del Fuego, one of the 23 states of Argentina, is located in the south of the country, which does not share a border with any of the states. This state is completely separated from the rest of Argentina by the Strait of Magellan. The name Tierra del Fuego means "Land of Fire". In fact, Tierra del Fuego is an island that is separated from the American continent by the Strait of Magellan and consists of three parts: The eastern part of the big island of Tierra del Fuego belongs to Argentina and its western part (under the same name) belongs to Chile. The Falkland Islands (Malvinas), South Georgia and South Sandwich are self-governing territories in the possession of Great Britain, which Argentina claims. The Antarctic region, which is claimed by three countries, Argentina, Great Britain and Chile. The youngest state of Argentina was inhabited 12 thousand years ago. Before the arrival of the Spaniards in South America, Tierra del Fuego was the home of the natives (the tribes of Alakalouf, Yamana, Selknam and Mankanek). 50 years after the discovery of the region, most of the natives died due to the spread of diseases such as chicken pox and measles. The capital of the state is Ushuaia, and in the language of the natives, it means "the bay facing the end". Ferdinand Magellan was the first person to see the region in 1520. Because of the smoke and fire produced by the natives, he called the area "the land of smoke". Later, this name was changed to Land of Fire (Tierra del Fuego). Later, Juan de Alde Rete (1555) and Pedro Sarmiento set out to establish settlements, but they failed due to the harsh weather and frequent attacks by British pirates. The state also hosted Dutch, French, Spanish and British explorers. Gabriel de Castilla arrived in the region before the discovery of Antarctica. Of course, Robert Fitzroy and Charles Darwin had already set foot in the area.
