Description

Conscious-Unconscious-Subconscious (2024) Estelle Flores EXPLAINING-SHOWING-DOING Collection Machinima/Videoart, 1358x654px Made with The Sims 4 and Hydra Synth Inspired by Memories, Dreams, Reflections - Carl Gustav Jung Explaining-Showing-Doing is a collection of eight machinimas exploring the process of reading the world as performance. The videos were originally captured in The Sims 4 for Your Home, a large-scale multichannel video installation on the Schlosser Media Wall, part of the exhibition Easel Engine, curated by Regina Harsanyi at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City. For this release on objkt one curated by Kika Nicolela, I re-processed the original installation channels using Olivia Jack’s Hydra, a javascript video synthesizer. In a collage exercise combining short poems with citations from Yunus Emre, Baudrillard, Freud, Schechner and other thinkers from diverse fields, I aim to outline a way of perceiving the actions we perform while playing simulation games. Sounds made with samples from the game, wales, water and Özgür Baba interpretation of Dertli Dolap
