Chapter III: Universe of Grims
EP 51. Lies
Once upon a time, in a universe unlike any other, there existed a peculiar Grim Reaper named Pinocchio. Clad in a dark cloak that seemed to ripple with shadows, Pinocchio had an extraordinary ability. Whenever he told a lie, his wooden nose would grow, just like the Pinocchio of old.
But Pinocchio's lies were not meant to deceive or cause harm. He used them as a source of comfort, to bring solace and warmth to those whose lives he touched. In a realm filled with sorrow and uncertainty, his unique gift became a beacon of hope.
One gloomy evening, Pinocchio was summoned to the bedside of a young girl named Lily. The room was heavy with sadness as Lily's frail form lay motionless on the bed. Her parents clung to each other, tears streaming down their faces.
Pinocchio approached the grieving family, his eyes filled with empathy. "Lily," he began softly, "she will recover soon. Her spirit is strong, and the healers in the realm of the afterlife are working tirelessly to mend her."
As Pinocchio uttered those words, his nose grew ever so slightly. He continued, weaving a tapestry of comforting lies, "She will wake up to the embrace of a new day, surrounded by the love and laughter of her family. Her dreams will be filled with adventures, and she will grow up to be a remarkable young woman."
The parents looked at Pinocchio with a glimmer of hope in their tear-filled eyes. Their hearts clung to his words, finding strength in the possibility of a brighter future for their beloved daughter.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. Pinocchio visited Lily regularly, sharing stories of wonder and joy, each accompanied by the subtle growth of his wooden nose. He described fantastic worlds, filled with magical creatures and endless possibilities, instilling hope in her heart.
As time passed, Lily's health gradually improved. She began to smile again, her laughter filling the air. Her parents marveled at her progress, attributing it to the strength Pinocchio's tales had given her.
One day, as Pinocchio stood at Lily's bedside, he noticed a change. His wooden nose remained still as he spoke the truth, "Lily, my dear, your journey in this realm is coming to an end. But do not fear, for the realm beyond is a place of peace and eternal happiness. You will be surrounded by loved ones who have departed before you, and your spirit will shine brightly among the stars."
Lily smiled weakly, her hand reaching out to touch Pinocchio's cloak. "Thank you for bringing light to my darkness," she whispered. "Your words gave me strength and brought joy to my heart."
Pinocchio's eyes glistened with unshed tears. His mission had been fulfilled, and Lily's spirit was ready to move on. He gently took her hand, guiding her towards the afterlife, where her soul would find eternal peace.
From that day forward, Pinocchio continued his solemn duty as a Grim Reaper, using his gift to bring comfort and warmth to those in need. With every lie he told, his nose grew, but it stood as a symbol of compassion rather than deceit.
In this extraordinary universe, Pinocchio, the Grim Reaper with a growing nose, taught the power of comforting lies, for sometimes, in the darkest moments, a touch of hope is the greatest gift one can receive.
