My Ode to Haruki Murakami: Ever since I read a Wild Sheep Chase many years ago, I was hooked on Haruki Murakami. This wonderful phrase, "In the aquarium of my memory, it is always late autumn," has stuck with me since then. Maybe it's because it beautifully states how our memories are stored in water and ever fleeting. It's crazy to think that much of the understanding of who we are, is captured this way. Each ball/crystal represents a memory, effervescent and chaotic which rises up to our conscious thought and transports us back to a moment in time. I placed a figure in the middle of all these remembrances because we are both a part of this experience, as well as, the spectator who's looking back into our past.
