Description

Nepalese sadhus. They smoke weed, wear rags and beg on the streets. Some call them impostors, while others worship them as holy people who have achieved enlightenment. Every year the most religious sadhus make a journey to the sacred lake Gosaikunda, located high in the Himalayas, to do "puja" - a ceremony to worship the Gods. According to Hinduism, the waters of Gosaikunda are sacred and attract thousands of pilgrims. I spent almost two weeks hiking together with a group of sadhus from Kathmandu, during the time I had the opportunity to document their lives. It's is a very strange feeling when you walk above the clouds in such company! The sadhus were not prepared for this freshly fallen snow at about 4,000 meters.
