Description

Discovered in the Khardzhiev archives at the Stedelijk, these previously unseen works by the obscure Suprematist artist Sargei Slaughtermelovich were considered lost. Recently removed from storage, these designs are available to the public for the first time. A composite style taken from artists associated with the Supremus group in early 20th century Russia, their own tendencies, palettes, and composition concepts are blended and recreated as new works from a fictional lost body of work. Inspired in part by the relatively recent discovery of archives of work and notes about the Supremus print journal which never came to be. In a world with actual lost works, actual dropped connections, and all of this history buried in cabinets and closets in museums where permission to view has been forbidden by former collectors - a collection *like* this may actually be discovered one day.
