Description
Jeff Roland
Born in France in 1969, Jeff Roland is a prominent Neo Outsider artist. Having co-created the
movement, Jeff creates bold, colorful personal pieces, which reflect a constant desire to explore
the human psyche. He then went on into exploring new forms of expression of the magical
universes of the inner child, which place him in a very unique type of painting.
‘Life is a dream and Art makes it a reality. Art is a vehicle for human evolution, which acts as a
gateway between what was and what will be, bringing the ancestral fears and conquests to the
surface of the minds of this digital age. My paintings are the interconnected pieces of a poem,
woven with the yarn of our human experience. They tell the tale of who we are, I believe a deep
intuitive understanding results and our dreams come true. We have to live in a chaotic world,
when we all in fact, thrive in harmony.”
His work is highly sought by collectors and features in a vast number of private collections within
France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Norway,Austria, the USA, Canada,Turkey,
Saudi Arabia, Australia and the UK.. He is also part of the collections of the Museum of
Everything in London,UK, the Museum of Drawing in Skopje, Macedonia and the Davis Museum
in Barcelona, Spain
He is represented by CBA Gallery in Portland USA, by Mega Arts Gallery in Corchiano, Italy, by
Galerie Wawi in Paris, France, by Apollo Gallery in Mexico and now by Gallery Proton in Riga, Latvia
“The subconscious/conscious struggle depicted throughout Roland’s work [highlight] core aspect
of his paintings. He constantly explores dualism and the individual’s attempt to define his place
within a world of opposing forces. The polarities embedded in his paintings take many forms and
include light and dark, ignorance and knowledge, the individual and the society, and the
historical past (and its construction) and the present. His juxtaposition of primitive symbols- such
as snakes and neolithic style figures – and contemporary symbols (including pop culture rabbits)
– are a prominent example of this concern. These opposites, which affect both the artist and
viewer, signify the constant pull of the conscious and subconscious on the individual.Jeff
Roland’s paintings are not limited to a dualistic world view. The artist firmly believes that between
the two most extreme points there are many universes and infinite possibilities. As such, his
works record the fluid transition from one state of being to another.”
