1. Conceptualization: Anchor in the Storm
If Page 9 ("The Arms of Freedom") was the initial explosion of form, Page 10 represents the moment when the artist plunges into the heart of this explosion to guide it. The title "Experience is the Guide" is a crucial paradox: in the midst of the chaos of the Nigredo, it is no longer the academic rule that guides, but the muscular and intellectual memory of this rule—"experience"—that serves as the sole compass.
In this work, the complex figure of plate Bargue III, 31 is no longer visible as such; it has been liquefied in the crucible of the Athanor. However, the composition retains a central structure, a swirling spine that prevents total dissolution. This is where the "guide" resides: the artist's ability to maintain a subconscious cohesion even as matter begins to boil.
Visual Proof of Subrealism:
The work does not show reality, but the energy that underlies it. The colored lines (yellow, blue, red) that meander across the surface are not outlines, but trajectories of pure energy—subrealist Gold attempting to extract itself from the black mass of molten lead.

The work presents itself as a vertical vortex of matter in transmutation, a cartography of a territory in full dissolution.
The Central Crucible (Dark Matter):
Dominating the composition, a tumultuous mass of impasto in black, gray, white, and ochre forms the heart of the work. Based on the complex figure of Plate III, 31, this area represents the Nigredo at its point of maximum density. The academic "cold perfection of Lead" has melted, becoming a viscous pictorial lava. The brushstrokes are violent, suggesting a circular, downward movement, drawing the eye into the heart of the furnace.
The Energetic Incursions (Digital Fire):
Superimposed on this physical mass, fluid, electric lines—including a vibrant yellow (echoing the previous “Xanthopsia” collection) and a deep blue—traverse the composition. In the context of the hybrid book, these lines represent the intervention of digital animation acting like alchemical fire. They attack the physical matter (acrylic and clay), creating fissures through which the energy of "Subrealism" escapes.
Physical Anchoring and Dissolution:
The lower part of the image reveals the constituent layers of the "Combine Painting." Textures of wood, laminated cardboard, and touches of rawer colors (greens, browns) are discernible, literally invaded and covered by the flow of black paint and digital lines. This is the visualization of the raw "Materia Prima" (the physical support) being sacrificed and transformed by the artistic process.
The whole exudes a telluric power, a tension between the gravity of heavy matter and the ascension of colored energy, guided by an invisible hand that knows the way through the black.
