Description

There was a time when the blood fever ran as hot as lava through the veins of Chel and Nes. They were not intended to mate as Nes was to be bonded to one other than Chel. But Nes claimed "koon-ut-kal-if-fee", refusing the bond while compelling Chel to fight to the death to be her mate. He was valiant and victorious (though he did spare her intended mate's life in the end). Ah, but that was so many decades ago and so very much had transpired since their first mating. Had there been infidelity? No. Gambling? No. Drinking? Again, no. Just the slow grinding of time and small slights (often misinterpreted as "microaggressions") layered one over another, day by day, year by year, decade by decade, until the only fire left was a smoldering annoyance and distaste for each other.
