Description

In 2016, I received an invitation to travel to Rwanda and capture photographs of mountain gorillas. After careful consideration, I decided to seize the opportunity, and just two weeks later, I found myself standing atop the majestic Virunga Mountains. During my time there, I had the privilege of connecting with the dedicated experts at the Dian Fossey Fund, who were tirelessly working to protect and care for these incredible creatures. Locating the gorillas proved to be the most challenging aspect of the journey. It required enduring long hours of trekking through the dense jungle, pushing my limits physically and mentally. There were moments when I questioned my decision and wondered what I had gotten myself into. However, the reward awaited me as I finally came face-to-face with the mountain gorilla groups. The experience was both physically demanding and emotionally fulfilling. As a photographer, it was one of the most exhausting endeavors I had undertaken, but the opportunity to spend time with the mountain gorillas made every ounce of effort worthwhile. The connection I felt with these magnificent creatures was profound, and capturing their beauty through my lens was an immensely rewarding experience.
