Description
Almost exactly a year ago... My friend, her dog and I went for a walk outside the city, a place we call "The Island". Previously, it was only accessible in winter when the river froze, and we walked on the ice from November to March. Just half an hour's walk, and you're on an uninhabited island. Winter, silence, a frosty night and stars, city lights in the distance, and you're alone with nature, and frost of -20 - 40 degrees. As if in space. So, it was still autumn and we went there along a recently poured sand path. Yes, the island has now become a peninsula, since it is connected to the mainland. We wanted to light a fire and fry potatoes and marshmallows, contemplate the starry September night under the quiet waves of the river, saying goodbye to summer, and anticipating the cold winter. Just in case, I took a camera.
When we were there, we lit a fire. It seemed to me that something was wrong with the sky. And then it started. I took a picture with a long exposure, and it was confirmed, the Northern Lights were starting. Yes, imagine, in September. There was a powerful flare on the Sun, and we had a sharp pre-temperature drop from +20 during the day to +3 at night. I took 985 pictures, this spectacle lasted for three hours. Everything changed and shimmered with colors every second. It was both shock and delight. And yes, we still managed to fry potatoes and eat, in between the oohs and ahs, wow, look, there, there. Wow! The lights were moving from the north, and an hour later they occupied the entire half of the sky from west to east, went up and dissolved as if flying back into space. It was so amazing. And spontaneous, and delicious. That it is simply impossible to describe in words. All the hormones and emotions were going off the charts. I thought that the final enlightenment is something similar in sensations. And when we were returning home already at 3 am, I was so filled, and with such different feelings. And with enormous gratitude for what I saw, and in general for life on this beautiful planet. And I was ready to burst into tears from the feeling that this was the most beautiful event in life, that there was no point in living any longer, it was time to die. That's it! It was the Epogee and Catharsis, the Culmination and Satori at the same time...
Then I didn't leave the house for two more days, processed these 985 frames, and made a Video out of them. I really wanted wonderful music that would convey all this. I thought that I would choose for two more days. But I remembered that I had recently downloaded the discography of the great Vangelis. And I thought: maybe there? I randomly went to the 1995 album - Voices, I had never heard it. And since I really lost sleep, the song "losing sleep" seemed appropriate to me by its title. I turned it on and was stunned. It was a 1000% hit.
Enjoy watching, friends!
I made 985 editions so that you could all save a piece of this wonderful event.
And the price is 2, because this is my second object published here.
Thank you and I love you all! And life!
A wonderful life is worth losing sleep...
P.S. Usually, the northern lights appear in the atmosphere at an altitude of 90 to 130 km above the earth's surface. In this case, the color of the glow will directly depend on how high the collision of the solar wind with particles of the earth's atmosphere occurred.
