Sometimes things stay burned into our minds and haunt us from the different moments in our lives. From our suffering to finding our inner peace, the brain holds on to memories that stay burnt into our subconscious. The 'Untitled Self-Portrait' is a series that examines the inner and outer self and the objects or narratives that leave a lasting impression on us, whether positively or through nightmares. Sometimes the barriers we set up for ourselves need a change or a catharsis, and this has become the basis for the subjects that I paint. This week's portrait is of Basaia, someone who has profoundly affected me as an artist and friend. His positivity and outlook on life are contagious, and I hope I captured his spirit with his portrait.
