Description

Spiritual Noise has been an interesting ride for me emotionally and artistically. What started as a, ‘I wonder what would happen if I…’ has again turned into something wild and unexpected for me. Back in 2021 I dropped everything I was doing and jumped in with both feet to digital art, almost completely eschewing the physical in my intense drive to explore, understand, and expand myself. I briefly touched on abstract in different ways, from basic brushes to animations, but never really felt the vibe to dig deep and see if I could bring what I had been developing in the physical into the digital world. What the barriers were mentally and I cannot really say, but the moment I started into this all there was this wild sense of deja vu and friends around me were like, this reminds me of…referring to a painting they’d seen or collected in the past. Trying hard to define within my head the five W’s through lines, colors, brush types, the mix of everything, I suddenly felt free in ways I hadn’t for a long time. The box I had trapped myself in as to how and why things should be, split and I was back again in write mode instead of just read/follow. The steps represented here are a part of a longer, wider, and deeper journey on many fronts. So much I want to express, create, show, under so many limitations. Fear has been my master for a long time, but, again I strike back at the feeling with all my might, and instead of fleeing, I create, into the storm, full speed ahead, hoping that past this, maybe, just maybe, the sun is there waiting for me. I hope you enjoy this collection in all its frenetic, slowly coalescing energy. The process has been a painful joy bringing to life with as much brutal honesty, what I’m thinking and feeling. Straight from my soul, Spiritual Noise. Wessel ‘24
