Uromycladium tepperianum is a rust fungus that infects more than 100 species of Acacia. On some species, the chemicals also cause masses of shoots, termed witches' brooms, to grow from the stems. The galls of Uromycladium species that infect wattles (Acacia species) can be called a quintessential Australian plant disease. Not edible, unlike some galls caused by insects. The texture colours arise from a young eucalyptus tree growing nearby, unaffected.
