Description

Slovenia, twelfth century. A nobleman builds his home inside the mouth of a cave in the karst. The walls are part stone, part rock. The cave keeps going behind them, into the mountain, for kilometers. Three hundred years later, Erazem Predjamski locks himself in and an army camps outside the gates. Food keeps arriving from a passage no one outside can see. The siege lasts more than a year. Erazem dies from a cannonball through the toilet, the only spot on the building not protected by the rock. The mountain shielded everything else. The toilet was a single weak point, and they found it.
