Description

Balance is described as a state of calm. But it is not always true. In the substratum, multiple forces act, pulling in different directions and which, for a certain period, cancel each other out, maintaining the balance. Up to a certain point. Sometimes it happens after a long time, sometimes almost instantly, and it is impossible to predict it. It is interesting to notice how small the margin of variation is. A slight shift, an inclination slightly more accentuated on one side or the other, and the balance breaks, and everything becomes something completely different, it transforms. Perhaps the apparent calm was only a matter of perspective. Sometimes I wonder whether the way in which the objects mix after the balance has broken determines a different situation from case to case, like when you arrive at a crossroads and everything that will happen in the future depends on the path chosen. Weight draws its meaning from the space that surrounds it. Remove the color, remove the contrast, and all that remains is proportion, a concept that may seem raw, but it is not: how much you can keep, what you have to let go, and the precise point at which keeping becomes losing. This is what this image is about. And the previous moment. My thoughts while I was composing this series. Is it madness? I like to meditate often in this way and I like to express my thoughts through photography. © 2021 Corina Daniela Obertas. All rights reserved. Non-commercial license.
