Description

This image was taken in Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca, Mexico on Nov. 1, 2022. I saw this lady standing outside her home, waiting for a ride, so I asked if she would mind if I photographed her. She spent her life as a weaver in this small weaving (tapetes) town. The weaving is done on hand looms and the dyes are all natural. Most of the residents in this town are Zapotec, which is an indigenous pre-Columbian civilization. We were invited into her home to view her ofrenda, since it was Dia de los Muertos time in Mexico. I can only imagine the stories she would have to tell.
