Description

The Floodgate File size: 49Mb File format: mp4 3840x2160 pixels 30fps I enter the flooded concrete structure, the water resisting me without intention. The floodgates have already been opened, whatever purpose this place once held removed like an organ taken from a body that still stands. Above, an enormous orchid floats within a circular frame, glowing faintly as if it remembers light rather than produces it. Seven drones circle endlessly, their movement precise and unquestioned, a perfection that no longer serves meaning. The walls flicker with green and violet distortions, signals from a world that no longer requires a receiver. Among the rocks sits a figure who resembles someone we might have known, though the resemblance no longer matters. He smokes. He drinks. With quiet indifference, he points toward the circling drones, not to warn or explain, only to acknowledge. Nearby, a robotic arm continues its task long after its purpose has dissolved, not out of persistence, but inertia. I remain in the water as he says nothing. It feels as if words would not change anything. The machines continue, not because they must, but because nothing remains that would tell them to stop.
