Description

Found this old Chevy Apache sitting out along the Route 66 stretch in Tucumcari. Late ’50s, I think. The blue paint is mostly gone now and the rust has taken over the hood, but you can still see the rivets and the chrome on the grille hanging on. One of the headlights is missing, the bumper’s sagging off its brackets, and the weeds are slowly working their way up around it. With the old cinderblock building behind it and that big New Mexico sky overhead, it felt like a little piece of the town’s Route 66 days that just never left.
