May 7th 2010 — Kostas Mazomenos has been keeping up his own travelogue, but he's always refrained from being the tourist type. Certainly he's been around the world not just to fool around. He's a man with a mission. Rushing his way from the mediterranean coasts, deep into the amazon or surveying the sources of the Nile, he's been reliant on some of his own tools of the trade. This time, however, he's not the one swimming in the Nile, reaching for it's obscure sources, or following the flow of it's waters towards the rich delta. He's not holding any staff or Sekhem sceptre — it seems here at the city of the Was staff (Waset) at last the tourist role fits him. He takes it as an well earned break, but his relief is met in stark contrast to the surprise of others by the boat. Who or what could be his ally now? He still feels like he belongs to these waters, even more now with the scalding sun claiming the surface. But he leaves it to the ancient Triton whom used to dive by these waters aeons ago. How does he deals with his sudden appearance so naturally? At last, his double identity can be suggested and time will come when he's got to choose which side he'll be: surface or underwater. As the Proteus once swam towards the Delta, it seems there was a Triton taking the other way around to the direcion of Swenett. For the moment, Kostas enjoy his brief passage through Egypt, the Black Land of Khem; even when the surface reaches forty degrees celsius. SEVENTH in a series of scenes from the collection NOSTOS (Return), depicting different regions of the world and following the steps of an original character. Across this collection, some scenes range from a friendly slice of life — while others shows the cracks of out of place, mythical creatures — all the while uncovering the common in the uncommon, and the uncommon in the common.
