In classical painting, a pentimento (repentir) is a visible trace of an earlier edit hidden beneath the final layer. Re_live pushes this concept into a spatio-temporal dimension. By hand-painting 24 raw frames over John Singer Sargent’s 1872 sketch (Homme aux cheveux bouclés), Treeskulltown does not restore the past; he reanimates it through an electric pulse. The deliberate 12 fps animation creates a kinetic friction—a visual reminder of human micro-decisions, standing in stark opposition to the smooth, infinite interpolations of modern AI. It is the aesthetics of the residue: "the form before the form". AUDIO ECOSYSTEM The sound design acts as the decomposition engine of the piece. The rhythmic track functions as an organic metronome, a pulse from a bygone era. Over it, a raw, unstructured jazzy wobble bass—crafted exclusively with native Ableton instruments—tears through the cadence. This wobble becomes the sonic metaphor for a historical canvas liquefying, refusing to remain frozen in art history. A pagan prayer for pixel artisans.
