a Weary 101 FAQ for The Artevatooor
k, what is it?
The Artevatooor is a vertical oncyber-based mini-game experience for NFT collectors, currently in what one might call the “Public Ralpha” phase of development.
If you haven’t yet, start with the tutorial level here: oncyber.io/tutorial
Token gated? You’ll need a token from the "oncyber community (eth)" collection to access the tutorial level — that’s the first gate (and a mini-tutorial itself).
Any oncyber community gallery will do, and many are very modestly priced — however, if you’d like to directly support a weary hopefool in his mad buidlin’ efforts, you can purchase an edition of my first minted gallery template, "The Caverns Below," developed at the MetaArchitects HUB community over a period of several months.
To proceed to the next level of The Artevatooor, you will need to choose a path.
Dorks like myself may recognize some pivots on familiar concepts from certain pockets of “web2” game design:
Roguelike vertical maps (ie. Slay the Spire without the randomization - and the cards)
Mobile gaming Towers of Doom (with more RAGMI and less doom -- hopefooly...)
Visit the current Artevatooor map here for more clarity.
Honestly? For myself, mostly. The Artevatooor is not for everyone – by design. It is mostly intended for intrepid web3 explorooors and collectors, looking for something different.
Each level of The Artevatooor is token-gated to the prior levels’ token requirements (stacking with those before it).
For now, that will consist of tokenized collections I’ve collected from (for numerous reasons, one of which is basic platform functionality).
Like most web3 “stuf” (as I write with a single “f” bc I'm insane and find it funny), The Artevatooor is an experiment.
My intent is to create and test gamified web3 art collection experiences that I (at least) think are fun and visually interesting, while also crossing the streams between different siloed audiences in web3.
The Artevatooor is a concept I’ve been building because I think it could be a neat way for others to discover new tokenized art and projects that I personally believe underrated in the NFT space; think of it as maximum-effort curation.
In short, this is a labor of love, and something I’m doing purely on a permissionless "fan" basis - because I find it interesting, and want to see how far I can take it.
No. It’s CvC: creation via curation – and anything I say is always CA;NFA: cultural advice, not financial advice (never financial – I’m a poor, remember – and I've never cared much for the excesses of greed - I care about the support of artists, and new ideas).

You know that saying, “The journey is the reward?” Explore The Artevatooor (and web3 and life in general) with this in mind and you will (imo) have a much better time.
That’s not to say there won’t be “stuf” along the way, but don’t expect some type of pawnable monetary reward for escalating The Artevatooor; that is not the purpose of this. Please enjoy the ride (or don't - your call).
I think the CEO of Human Heater put it best: "Thank you!"
Keep in mind that at "launch" this has all been made by one (very) weary hopefool, in far too many moonlight hours, with just a couple of proof-of-concept levels and some elements in-progress since mid-last year - so please pardon the virtual dust.
As for "funning it up" (define "fun" for me, btw - solid way to help yourself to an extra portion of existential dread if you think about that one too much), once oncyber gets its own scripting system (and I figure out how to use said system), the "gamification" score of The Artevatooor is likely to gain roughly ~69xp. You do the math (bc I'm bad it).

so... how does it work?
VVV
right, but… how does it work?
huh... who is this for, exactly?
ooo-kay. what's the point?
why are you making this?
be honest: this is just a really oblong effort to pump your own bags, isn't it?
okay, nerd. what’s in it for me?
this is clunky and not very polished.
Each oncyber community gallery token has "utility" baked in, as it is a functional gallery for curating art you've collected in a 3D space. Buying oncyber galleries = supporting dev of cool new stuf.
