Kings River Falls Natural Area, Arkansas. What started as a hot, harsh sunny day was graced with some surprise clouds to help me take this image. Larger than it appears (about 20ft) it will often be nearly filled after a large rain, hiding this beautiful fall underneath.

6 - Swimming Hole

This was the first waterfall I explored on a family trip back in 2007. Just imagine the sheer amazement 14yr old me had when I came up to this waterfall. I had never seen anything like it in person before and I was totally blown away and captured by the magic. The sounds of rushing water, the temperature drop in the canyon, the vibrant greens, it felt like I was in a fairytale. That's when I knew I needed more of this in my life. And I've been on a search for water ever since. Always chasing waterfalls.

Starved Rock State Park, Oglesby IL. This particular spot is a mostly "untouched" hidden gem above one of the main waterfalls. It's a long canyon with multiple falls trailing through until it reaches it's popular tourist destination. It's one of my favorite spots because it's tucked away from most, but rewards those adventurous enough to explore and look for it.

Kings River Falls Natural Area, Arkansas. This green stairway was a little off the beaten path of the main trail, and overshadowed by the large waterfall on the other side of the trail. I sat here looking at the sun shine onto the vibrant green moss waiting for some fairies to come out to greet me.

8 - Steps Of Green

I hike to satisfy wanderlust, to connect with the earth, and to escape life's many stresses and center myself. Every hike has something new to behold, even if I've been there several times before. Something I'm always searching for on my adventures is water. I feel like an adventure isn't complete until I have found the waterfall, or gotten my feet wet (sometimes more than just my feet). This is my first collection of images sharing some of what I have found in my search for water.
